Conduct Interviews

A quick, skillful risk assessment

We were retained by a law firm working for the owner of a women’s health clinic to investigate allegations that the owner had rendered unlicensed medical care. These allegations stemmed from a former clinic employee who claimed that the owner provided hands-on medical care to a patient despite not possessing a medical license in the correct jurisdiction. This former employee complained to their local Board of Health, which had already launched its own investigation by the time we were hired.

Our client wanted to know if the allegations against the clinic’s owner had merit and if any other clinic employees would levy similar accusations when confronted by an investigator.

Armed with this knowledge, our client was better positioned to provide legal advice to the clinic owner while awaiting the results of the Board of Health’s own investigation

In this case, it was essential for us to interview the other clinic employees quickly in order to determine what they might say to the Board of Health. To expedite these interviews, we went directly to the clinic and interviewed all of the current staff members throughout a single workday. We then worked quickly to contact and interview former employees with relevant knowledge. We asked open, non-leading questions, carefully documenting what everyone told us.

Our internal investigation found that the allegation of unlicensed care was isolated and unsubstantiated by other clinic employees. Armed with this knowledge, our client was better positioned to provide legal advice to the clinic owner while awaiting the results of the Board of Health’s own investigation.
